A collaboration between Joy Design + Build and Interior Concepts, this Modern Farmhouse style kitchen, with black-trimmed windows and doors, celebrates its riverfront setting in Annapolis. The materials, finishes, and furnishings nod to the outdoors without detracting from the view. The cabinetry boasts a driftwood-like finish, while the island’s quartz countertop features dynamic veining that echoes the tree-lined landscape.

Designer Patrick Sutton created a soulful, moody vibe in this revamped Baltimore kitchen. Concrete-washed walls and faux-painted ceiling beams evoke a romantic, Old World vibe, while a steel-framed window and open shelves provide industrial-style counterpoints. The dark-wood finish on the cabinets meshes perfectly with the woodland backdrop.
“Glamour” became the byword for this Leesburg, Virginia, kitchen renovation, executed by BOWA. Double islands boast beefy, waterfall countertops; a pair of crystal chandeliers hang over each station. The clean cabinetry design and integrated appliances with acrylic hardware establish a streamlined look, while rustic wood flooring adds the right amount of tension.

This kitchen, the brainchild of Catonsville, Maryland-based designer Laura Hodges, proves that a white tableau doesn’t have to be bland. Brass accents—introduced by way of lighting, fixtures, and cabinet hardware—bring a bit of sparkle. On the other hand, barstools crafted from rattan and bamboo lend natural texture to the pristine setting.

Reclaimed ceiling beams impart a French Country feel in this kitchen conjured by BarnesVanze Architects and Mary Stuart McCamy (interiors). Situated within a new construction home in Washington, DC, the farmhouse-style space projects an evolved-over-time aesthetic, thanks to the mix of countertop materials and cabinet paint colors.
A striking copper vent hood over the island cooktop serves as a focal point in this kitchen, renovated by York, Pennsylvania-based Fit + Finish Design. Copper accents, from the appliance hardware to the hammered sink, reappear throughout. A dark finish on the island and open shelves break up the snowy envelope, while a matte-white finish on the appliances lends more subtle variation.
